There is no greater respect than that given to those
individuals who serve our country through military service. These individuals protect and preserve the
freedoms and liberty that all Americans enjoy each day, whether at work or at play. Our country does not employ compulsory military
service or conscription to maintain its’ rank and file, rather it depends on volunteers
ready and able to serve. These brave men
and women deserve our highest regards for the sacrifices they have made in
keeping our nation free.The Aberdeen,
South Dakota CHS Class of ’66 pays tribute to those classmates who served in
the United States armed services with a video on our YouTube site. To those classmates who served but were not shown in the video, please let us know and we will promptly add them.
The CHS Class of ’66 has set the stage for a new Relationship Culture. At our 50thCHS Reunion, held on June 10-12, 2016 at the Ramkota Best Western Hotel in Abedeen SD, the class laid out how it will utilize a whole new array of digital tools that will enable classmates to stay connected without relying on periodic reunions per se. The class has created a website, blog page, Facebook site, and YouTube site, all of which are interconnected and provide a means for sharing our past and ongoing life events. In addition, the class will utilize a new database management system that will remain safe and secure as we correspond and also serve as a center-point for an active “Class of ’66 Newsletter.” Using these digital tools, the class will have the ability to share information, including stories, biographies, photos, videos, and other pertinent information that can be placed on our internet sites.
At the farewell breakfast Carole decided to give the
Three Amigos a gift of Sombrero’s to help them stand out from the crowd. Unfortunately, the Amigos did not have time to
study and perfect the Three Amigo introduction. We will practice and try to do better next time.
A special thanks to Carol for all of her hard work in
getting Classmates subscribed to the Newsletter and leading her intrepid team
to bring life to our Newsletter.
For her Fearless Blogging Skills, Braving Grumpy
Classmates she has fearlessly pursued them to register in the Class
Newsletter.This award was presented by
what Carole calls the Three Amigos (Bob, Terry and Tim)
After accepting it with her usual grace and calmness she
played a prank the next morning on the Amigos.(Film to follow).
For every one that was not able to attend this reunion,
please enjoy the pictures and videos that will be coming out shortly.Next time we hope you will all be able to
attend and share in the fun we had.Carole
will be reminding you to sign up for the Class of 66 news letter so you can
stay in touch with everything that is going on.
Do you remember that 25th day of May 1966 when our class
walked across the stage to receive our Diplomas? It was the first day of the rest of our
lives. We all had many hopes and
aspirations for what life would bring us.
For some it was a fear of the unknown.
It was a day that changed all of our lives. Enjoy the seeing the program and reliving
that moment again.
Central High School Class of 1966 Graduation Program

by Alice Laird Email Post I love all of Carole's ideas. Here are a few additional items I've thought of: school books, newspapers with big stories featured (Beatles arrival in USA, Kennedy assassination, etc.), typewriter, transistor radio, television, popular clothes/shoes. I don't know how available these items might be, but even pictures of some of them would be fun.
So
here goes...this is my first attempt to post to the CHS blog. I have
had help from Terry, who has encouraged me and said it is very simple
and that he and the committee are hoping that many of you will also take
the plunge and do it. He said the process is very easy...just create
an email like you normally do and send it to aberdeenclassof66reunion.author@blogger.com
and the rest is taken care of for you. The committee wants you to
remember that this is our site and a great way to share our thoughts and
memories.
I had some thoughts about things that we should have
displayed from the Dacotah Prairie Museum. Love the idea of the prom
dress and fun glasses. Other things that come to mind would be the old
hair dryers, big hair curlers, CHS sweatshirt, gold and blue Pom Poms, a
Letterman's jacket, old 45 records and record player, old movie star
magazines, a Princess telephone, a Twister game, etc. I am sure that
there are many other things that you all can think of and would like to
be included in the display. The committee would like you to post your
ideas..so please post a comment to the Blog.
