Calling All College Athletes: Did You Participate in Varsity Sports in College? Let Us Know

There were certainly a lot of good athletes in the Central High Class of 1966. We're wondering which ones went on to play varsity athletes in college.

We know of one: Randy Hermansen played football all four of his years at Northern State University. In his senior year, the Wolves were undefeated (9-0). He was also on the wrestling team for two years. As a member of the Northern Weightlifting Club, he held all of the Heavyweight records in South Dakota for a time.

Athletics were so much a part of Randy's life that he went on to coach for 40 years, 72 total seasons as a head coach in football, wrestling, volleyball, track and cross country. He was South Dakota Girls Track Coach of the Year in 1984. He taught and coached at Northwestern High School, Eureka High School, Warner and Herreid.

Which other class of 1966 classmates participated in collegiate varsity sports? Let us know by adding to the comments below or on our Facebook page.

I played varsity tennis for Westmar College for 4 years and was the team captain the last 3.

I still play tennis 3-4 times a week and play in competitive USTA Leagues in Dallas. My SpringPark team has represented Dallas in the 65 and over division at the Texas state USTA Sectional Championships and won it 3 years ago.
